The Website of the Bishopspark School Eco -  Club

As part of Miss Goodwin’s and Mr Jessop’s Geography review, they spoke to the children and Teachers about learning outside the classroom.  Children and Teacher were all interested in developing this aspect of our school.

The Eco club decided to make an 'Eco garden and enlisted the help of some teachers, parents, pupils and some volunteers from 35 Engineers to help get the Eco garden started.

The Pond Area. (Before)

A Change of Plan

It was decided to make the garden have three areas.  Firstly a wild flower area was planted.  This was done so that butterflies would be attracted to the area.  Secondly, a vegetable patch was established so that we could make everyone aware of the benefits of vegetables as part of our science work on healthy diets.  It also made the children aware of where vegetables come from.  Finally, we began to work on a pond in another part of the Eco Area.  This will be completed by the end of 2008.

We still have lots of ideas that we want to develop.

The newly set out growing area.

With some parental help we were able to get some vegetables planted.
