 What a load of rubbish!

We started off our Research on Recycling with a video conference session with the National Maritime Museum in Greenwich London.  The video conference gave the children the chance to generate their own questions and put them to an expert.  At the end of the session the boys and girls were challenged to expand their enquiry into recycling by considering our waste in school.

  About the video conference Session

Children explored how to reduce, re-use and recycle their waste at home and in school; they foundout about different forms of pollution and how pollutants enter the sea.

 Paper Shocker!!

We were all shocked to see that 90% of our waste was paper.  We asked Debbie our caretaker to assist us and join our Eco Committee.  As quick as a flash, she organised some paper recycling bins and the Naffi provided us with some paper bins. We were able to reduce our general waste by 50% and increase our recycling of paper significantly.

Waste research

The Eco Club investigated several classroom bins and the Head Teacher’s bin.  This was done to see what sort of waste was in them.  We presented our findings during a Friday Assembly to the whole school.
